The idea of changing the perception to conducting laborious or habitual tasks is of great importance to me. I carry a rather repetitive daily schedule and ticking items off the to-do list can become tedious, even meaningless at worst, over time. Looking at the semantics surrounding my tasks and changing them to “my pleasure to do” rather than “have to do” does have a positive impact in making such tasks not only a bit more enjoyable, but more meaningful as well.

Suzan’s “I Get To”  presentation was clear and practiced but never rehearsed. Each moment was poignant to our group and Suzan’s fresh charisma and connection to the topic was palpable.

My biggest takeaway from the presentation was that a change in perception begins with the language we use. Simply stating “my pleasure” won’t do much without mentally engaging with that statement. Over time and true reflection, the words “my pleasure” begin to turn into a mindset and source of motivation.

This presentation in particular would be perfect for any team of people striving to achieve goals of any size. Team building activities are a plenty these days, but meaningful advice that can be practiced right away is a gift to anyone looking to create a truly positive and productive atmosphere.

I have had the honor to be in attendance for one of Suzan Stroud's seminars, “Have To vs Get To." To this day I still apply the tools I learned from her seminar. Suzan has a very unique way about making people buy in to what she is saying, and for this topic she had me hooked. I use the saying “have to vs get to” for every situation I am in. She explained this phrase in a way that has stuck with me, "life is short and you will never know when saying I have to, turns into I wish I could still get to." She has inspired not only me, but also my peers and athletes who I have coached as well. I have asked Suzan to come speak to my volleyball team each season I have coached and every time the girls always talk about how motivating she is. Suzan can always find a topic to allow the girls to relate too and most importantly they apply what they have learned. I highly recommend asking her to speak at your next team meeting, I promise you will have a take away that you will apply everyday in your life.

Suzan Stroud is an awesome presenter for Professional Development! I’ve had the pleasure of attending a professional development she facilitated, and she was straight to the point with no fluff.  It is greatly appreciated because she made the message realistic and easy to understand. I have been more successful in my one of my roles as a classroom teacher and more at ease when completing tasks related to the training.  Should you consider Suzan to facilitate your next workshop or professional development you will find her to be authentic and able to deliver a message that is applicable to everyday work- life!

I loved the Professional Development training titled “I Get To”. This course was very informative and kept me and my colleagues interested, and it renewed our vision of why we teach and what our students gain from us.  As a result of this training, it has helped me as an educator fully understand the privilege of entering the classroom and transforming young minds.  Suzan Stroud is a very impactful presenter with good energy and charisma.
